Denver Nuggets head coach Mike Malone also had nothing but nice words to say about Kevin Durant.

He has now scored the 10th most points in NBA history. He passed Moses Malone on the all-time scoring list with this bucket.

Moses Malone is often called the most underrated player in NBA history. The three-time Most Valuable Player award winner played in the NBA from 1976-1995. He averaged 20.5 points per game during his career. Malone’s best season as a scorer was the 1981-82 season where he scored 31.1 points per game and shot 51% from the floor.

Durant needed 17 points coming into this game to pass Malone on the all-time scoring list. It would of been a shocker if Durant did not score at least 17 as he was shooting the lights out prior to the Suns loss to the Toronto Raptors. The former Texas Longhorn scored at least 30 points in his last six games.

This year has been full of these moments already for Durant has he passed Hakeem Olajuwon and Elgin Baylor on the all-time scoring list earlier in the season.

Who’s Next?

Next up on the scoring list is Carmelo Anthony who scored 28,289 points during his career. If Durant stays healthy he should be able to pass him up in less than 40 games. After that Shaquille O’Neal is eighth all-time in points with 28,596.

Passing O’Neal on the scoring list is also very realistic for Durant to do later this year. Now after that the next player on the list is Wilt Chamberlain at 31, 419 points scored. Durant has to wait till next season or maybe even the season after to pass him.

This accomplishment of being a top ten scorer in the history of the NBA is remarkable. It’s not only a testament to the skill level of Durant. Its a reminder of his incredible consistency and the durability he displayed earlier in his career.
