Sims will now join an ASU quarterback room that is led by former four-star recruit and Michigan State QB Sam Leavitt, as well as senior Trenton Bourguet. The team gets much-needed competition following Jaden Rashada’s recent transfer to Georgia.

Sims played 25 games over three seasons at Georgia Tech before transferring to Nebraska and sitting for most of the year after starting the season at QB. Through three seasons at Georgia Tech, he threw for 4,464 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. Sims also added 1,152 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, the 22-year-old can provide dual-threat capability and has exceptional arm talent.

While he has had accuracy and consistency issues that will need to improve, Sims has as high if not higher of a ceiling than any current Sun Devils QB.

Head coach Kenny Dillingham has emphasized how important competition between position groups is ahead of the season and Sims will provide that for ASU right away.
