The mega popular NBA2k video game is set to release the newest edition of their game on September 8th. They have released their player and team rankings for this upcoming season. Where do the Suns land on 2k’s list?

Team Rating

The Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics are tied for the top ranking at 84 overall.  The NBA 2k raters see Phoenix as an offensive juggernaut.

Phoenix has the highest outside scoring rating in the game at 93. The shooting of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal should make the Suns very hard to stop with anyone holding the controller.

Devin Booker and company also have a high inside scoring rating of 81. Tied for fourth highest on the game. Gamers should have no trouble scoring with this team.

The Suns have a plethora of play-makers and as a result have a high play-making rating of 81. The lack of a “pure” point guard will not be a problem on the video game.

The perception is that this team will try to outscore their opponents as Phoenix has a defensive rating of 63 which is near of the bottom of the ratings. This is where the reality of Frank Vogel’s coaching has to be better than the perception around this team.

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is the fifth best player in the game with a 96 rating. Durant’s turning 35 years old before the season starts and is still recognized as one of the best players in the league. The former Texas Longhorn’s ability to shoot is a big part of his high rating. Durant’s outside scoring has a rating of 95.

Devin Booker

Devin Booker is the 11th best player in the game with a 94 rating. Booker came into the NBA with the expectations of being a good shooter. Who would develop into a scorer. The native of Grand Rapids, Michigan has surpassed those expectations and become a very good play-maker. Booker has a play-making rating of 85.

The Role-Players

Bradley Beal has a rating of 87. DeAndre Ayton is rated at an 84. There is a massive drop off after that where no other player is rated over an 80. For the Suns to be successful those players have to outplay their ratings.

If NBA 2k is correct about the Suns. They will be exciting to watch but won’t have the depth or defense to win a championship.
