Grant-Foster is the reigning WAC Player of the Year after posting 20.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists (all career highs) per game in 34 games. He also received first-team All-WAC honors last season.
With the Lopes, he helped GCU earn its first NCAA Tournament win in program history, upsetting the No. 5 seeded St. Mary’s 75–66 on March 22. The Kansas native was the leading scorer in the victory with 22 points and also had seven rebounds.
To begin his college career, he played two seasons (2019-21) with Indian Hills Community College in Iowa before transferring to Kansas. During his junior year, he averaged 3.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.2 assists in 22 games with the Jayhawks.
At the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, Grant-Foster entered the transfer portal before committing to DePaul.
But during halftime in just his first game as a Blue Devil, Grant-Foster went into cardiac arrest and collapsed. Needing medical assistance, his life was saved when he had his heart shocked back into rhythm three times and received a cardioverter-defibrillator which is implanted in his chest.
The 6-foot-7 guard would then collapse again during a pickup game in 2022, which led to a second heart procedure. Listening to medical precautions, Grant-Foster went on a 16-month break from basketball before leaving DePaul.
When he was medically cleared to make his basketball return, he eventually signed with GCU last year and the rest is history.
Now that he is heading back to Grand Canyon to play for head coach Bryce Drew, he will reunite with returning starters Collin Moore, Duke Brennan and Ray Harrison.
