Compared to an attendance of 9,472 at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas last year, Footprint Center will nearly double that total. In 2023, Seattle Storm star Jewell Loyd broke two records in WNBA All-Star Game history of 31 points scored and 10 three-pointers made as Team Stewart (Breanna Stewart) beat Team Wilson (A’ja Wilson) 143-127 in Vegas.
Instead of two captains picking their teams in a draft-like format, the All-Stars who also play for the 2024 USA Basketball Women’s National Team will face the remaining pool of players on Team WNBA. The Paris 2024 Olympics will begin in mid-July and the WNBA will take a one-month break until mid-August, so fans will get a taste of what they’ll see when representing the United States.
With a massive spotlight on the league, expect the best of the best players in the WNBA and different celebrities to show out for this action-packed event on July 20.
The first day of All-Star Weekend will be the player/coach arrivals on July 18. Next will be the skills competition and 3-point contest on July 19 before the game itself.
This is the third time that the WNBA All-Star Game that will be in Phoenix (2000, 2014).
