PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns lose out on a young trade target that they were interested in for the 2025-2026 season. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Tuesday that the Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga have finally reached an agreement on a two-year deal to bring him back for this season.

The two sides had gone back-and-forth all summer on a deal, with the growing animosity between the two opening the door on a potential trade. Phoenix remained a top option for Kuminga, but couldn’t meet Golden State’s demands.

Suns miss out on Kuminga:

Any potential deal would’ve included a combination of players like Grayson Allen or Royce O’Neale. The duo had appeared in the team’s media day festives, which made any possibly deal evermore unlikely for the two teams. The Suns will move forward with the roster it had completely retooled over the offseason.

Eleven new players will be on the roster, that is boasting a much more youthful rotation. The 23-year-old Kuminga would’ve fit nicely into the franchise’s current trajectory, but Phoenix will have to stick with a Devin Booker and company led roster.
