PHOENIX — Although the Arizona Diamondbacks aren’t playing for a pennant, fans have kept a close eye on the National League Championship Series — and didn’t hold back after the Milwaukee Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Brewers and Dodgers began their series Sunday in Milwaukee, with both teams sending out their best in hopes of reaching the World Series. After four straight wins, the Brewers wrapped up the sweep Thursday, eliminating the defending champions.

D-Backs fans took to social media to troll their NL West rival, poke fun at the club and reminisce about the last time Arizona swept Los Angeles in the playoffs.

Rivalries often showcase history, bad blood and unfinished business. For Diamondbacks supporters, Los Angeles’ elimination meant a little more. They won back-to-back championships in 2024 and 2025, leading many to believe the club could make a run at a third straight title.

Now that the reigning champions have been eliminated, Snake fans have plenty to celebrate.

The sweep also made history. The Brewers became the first team in MLB, NBA or NHL history to sweep an opponent that had swept them the previous season since the Lakers did so against the Warriors in the 1968 Western Division Finals.

With the reigning champions out, Milwaukee can turn its attention to the World Series, though it will have to wait to learn its American League opponent. The Cleveland Guardians lead their series against the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1.

Arizona may not be playing for a pennant, but the this elimination gives Snake fans another reason to celebrate, and plenty of material to share on social media.
