Gillespie signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns on July 2, 2024, and debuted on October 26 of the same year. Since then, he’s played 21 games with the Phoenix Suns and 10 for the Valley Suns. Gillespie has been a solid piece for the Suns, averaging 5.5 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds. Gillespie’s three-point shot percentage puts him in a great place, making 44% of his shots.

With the Phoenix Suns and Valley Suns out of playoffs, Gillespie’s contract will expire if a long-term deal isn’t made. However, Gillespie told PHNX’s Gerald Bourguet that those discussions have not been made yet.

“I have not had any conversations,” Gillespie said. “It’ll probably be something I have with my agents towards the end of the year… but I love Phoenix. I would love to be here if they’ll have me back.”

The 25-year-old said the more time he was able to play, the more he learned and grew.

“The more reps you get in live situations, you get more comfortable,” Gillespie told AZCetral. “Just playing a little more, playing in game situations. [And] playing more meaningful minutes obviously than my previous years.”

With Sunday being the deadline for the Suns to come to terms on a deal, Gillespie will be an unrestricted free agent on Monday, April 14th.
