6A Champions
Liberty entered the Open State Playoffs as the No. 31 seed and was eliminated by Notre Dame Prep in Round One. Despite the early exit, they did not allow that to deter them from a championship run.
Being the No. 10 seed in the 6A bracket, Liberty put together three straight wins against higher-ranked teams. They defeated Hamilton, Cesar Chavez, and Pinnacle before matching up with O’Connor.
Led by senior elite two-way superstar Ring Nyeri, the Lions were capable of competing with any team when performing at their best.
Nyeri accounted for yet another 20+ point double-double, leading his team to its first championship win in program history. This was the senior’s final high school season and game. It’s safe to say that it could not have gone any better than it did.
Despite this being Nyeri’s last game with the team, Liberty can now be recognized as 6A Champions because of his impact.
