The Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder recorded his 12th triple of the season Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals and his second in back-to-back games, bringing his career total to 55. It ties Starling Marte and Mike Trout for the most triples among active MLB players.
What makes the milestone even more remarkable is how quickly the Arizona All-Star reached it.

Carroll reached 55 career triples in just 587 games. By comparison, Marte and Trout each needed more than 1,500 games to reach that same total. The feat further establishes the 25-year-old Diamondbacks outfielder as one of the game’s premier extra-base threats, combining elite contact, speed and power.
Carroll’s pace doesn’t just stand out among active players — it also puts him alongside one of baseball’s greatest legends.

According to Sarah Langs, Carroll is just the second player in MLB history to record at least 55 triples and 85 home runs through his first 587 career games, joining only Lou Gehrig.
The accomplishment highlights a rare blend of speed and power that is increasingly difficult to find in today’s game. Triples have become far less common because of modern defensive alignments and the emphasis on hitting home runs. Carroll has challenged that trend, using his speed to stretch hits into triples while also providing the power to leave the yard.

Carroll’s production is helping the D-Backs stay in the postseason race, but it’s also giving baseball fans a rare glimpse of history.
Fewer than 600 games into his career, Carroll is producing at a pace seen only from Hall of Famers, reinforcing that his start is among the best in modern baseball.
