GLENDALE — The official Madden NFL 27 overall ratings have been released, with Arizona Cardinals fans celebrating one of their own receiving a 99 overall rating.

EA Sports awarded tight end Trey McBride the rating after a career year for Arizona last season, placing him among the game’s elite players and making him one of the highest-rated tight ends in the franchise.
The announcement sparked celebration across the Cardinals fan base, with many praising the recognition for a player who, despite the overall sentiment surrounding the organization, has been a bright spot. Fans pointed to McBride’s consistency, toughness and ability to produce against top defenses as reasons why the rating is deserved.

Since arriving in Arizona as a second-round pick in 2022, McBride has steadily developed into one of the NFL’s premier tight ends. During the 2025 season, the tight end recorded 126 receptions for 1,239 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 126 catches set the NFL record for the most receptions by a tight end in a single season.
A 99 overall rating is reserved for the league’s most dominant players and reflects McBride’s rise from a promising second-round draft pick to one of football’s most complete tight ends. It also reinforces the belief that Arizona has found its franchise cornerstone at the position for both the present and the future.

Ratings, of course, are subjective but are often used as a measuring stick for national perception. For Cardinals fans, McBride earning a 99 overall rating signals that the rest of the football world now recognizes who he is and what they have watched develop over the past four seasons.
Expectations will only continue to rise. While the 99 overall rating celebrates what McBride has already accomplished, it also underscores just how much higher his ceiling could be.
