One of the most popular arcade video games of all-time is Pac-Man. Pac-Man is a big yellow circle that has the ability to eat dots and fruit. The main character is in a maze that is filled with yellow dots and fruit that appear at different times. The mission is to eat all of the dots in the maze to collect points and move on to the next level.

Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde are the ghosts who want to catch Pac-Man and ruin his chance to collect the dots. Each ghost has their own strategy that they use in an attempt to catch Pac-Man.

This is reminiscent of the NBA as there is a champion that is trying to collect the dots. The other contenders are the ghosts that want to stop the champion from getting to the next level. Going into the new year, which team is Pac-Man? Which team are the ghosts?
Pac-Man: The Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are the defending champions and playing the role of Pac-Man. How do they do keep the ghosts away? It is so hard to repeat as champion. The Nuggets have an enormous target on their back. They have taken the first step by keeping their roster mostly intact with players who are still in their primes. How do the contenders catch up to the champions?
Blinky: The Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns are in the role of Blinky. Blinky is the ghost that chases directly behind Pac-Man. Pac-Man sees Blinky coming but this ghost is relentless in its pursuit. The Suns are being relentless in their pursuit of a championship. Last season, they made a huge trade to pick up Kevin Durant at the trade deadline. This off-season the Suns made a big trade to pick Bradley Beal. So this season, they are coming straight at the Nuggets with their big three of Durant, Beal, and Devin Booker.
Pinky and Inky: The Golden State Warriors
While Pac-Man is running from Blinky, Pinky and Inky are going the smart route and trying to set a trap to catch Pac-Man. The Golden State Warriors are known as a smart franchise that is usually ahead of the other teams. This off-season, Golden State traded for Chris Paul. This move may be one of those that puts them ahead of the competition. Which may allow them to trap the champions.
Clyde: The Milwaukee Bucks
Clyde is a tricky ghost. He goes back and forth between going right at Pac-Man and running away from Pac-Man. Clyde may catch Pac-Man off guard as he is running away from the other ghosts. The Milwaukee Bucks went away last year as they were eliminated in the first round. This year they could come back with a vengeance as Giannis Antetokounmpo and company should one be of the best teams in the league.
Will one of these teams catch the Denver Nuggets or will the Nuggets continue to add to their high score?
