Suns fans indifferent over whether Frank Vogel’s firing was justified or not

After speculation was swirling about whether it was going to happen or not, the Phoenix Suns ultimately decided to part ways with head coach Frank Vogel after just his first season in the Valley.

Phoenix finished last season in sixth place with a 49-33 record in the Western Conference and were swept in the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, 4-0. He was hired on June 6, 2023, and signed a five-year contract worth $31 million last offseason. Vogel will be owed the whole dollar amount by the team after the early departure.

With his dismissal, Vogel has now been fired for the second time in three years after being relieved of his duties by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022.

Even though some Suns fans were shocked and others weren’t, the news caused a stir on social media about whether this made sense or if it was too soon and if he deserved all the blame for underachieving or if there were other factors.

Now the Suns will look for the third head coach in three years following the dismissal of Vogel. Former coach Monty Williams was fired at the end of the 2022-23 season and became the HC for the Detroit Pistons soon after.
