Just a month after he committed to ASU, Mountain Pointe High School safety Rylon Dillard-Allen has reopened his recruitment as he announced he decommitted from the Sun Devils.

When explaining his decision on X (formerly Twitter), Dillard-Allen mentioned that he wanted to play for Arizona State, but ended up changing his mind after further considering his options.

“After talking to Kenny Dillingham, we have decided it’s best for me to reopen up my recruitment,” Dillard-Allen said. “It was always my dream to play at ASU and be the local guy. But I want to go experience something in college and outside the state!

“Nothing but respect for the coaching staff, but we have both decided this is the best situation for Arizona State, and myself.”

His decommitment was a possibility as soon as he announced on Tuesday that he was going to officially visit Texas A&M in June. ASU had a policy on committed players who visit other schools before Dillard-Allen and the school parted ways.

Dillard-Allen transferred from Desert Vista to Moutain Pointe last year and was forced to miss the first five games of the season due to AIA rules. He finished with 43 tackles, two interceptions and forced a fumble in his junior year.

The Phoenix native is ranked No. 2 in Arizona among all high school players in the state and the No. 1 safety in the class of 2025, according to On3. 247Sports ranks Dillard-Allen as a three-star recruit while ESPN has him as a four-star.

Now that he is available and out of his ASU commitment, he will visit other schools and figure out which situation is the best for him. Texas A&M, Kansas, Kansas State, USC, Washington, Nevada, UCLA, Oregon, Nebraska, Arizona and Colorado State have all shown interest over the past year or so.

In the recruiting class of 2025, Arizona State has received commitments from Benjamin Alefaio of Orange Lutheran High School (Calif.) and Xavier Skowron at Texas City High School (Texas).
