After speculation was swirling about whether it was going to happen or not, the Phoenix Suns ultimately decided to part ways with head coach Frank Vogel after just his first season in the Valley.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Phoenix finished last season in sixth place with a 49-33 record in the Western Conference and were swept in the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, 4-0. He was hired on June 6, 2023, and signed a five-year contract worth $31 million last offseason. Vogel will be owed the whole dollar amount by the team after the early departure.
With his dismissal, Vogel has now been fired for the second time in three years after being relieved of his duties by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022.
Even though some Suns fans were shocked and others weren’t, the news caused a stir on social media about whether this made sense or if it was too soon and if he deserved all the blame for underachieving or if there were other factors.
Here is what some of the fans on X (Formerly Twitter) had to say:

Frank Vogel a championship coach getting passed around like a blunt this era of coach blaming is wack

Its always the coach, not the GM who gutted the roster than made the NBA finals to bring in aging over hyped talent on crazy contracts. But it was Frank Vogel's fault. He puts out the players he was given on the roster.

Move over Ryan Gosling, Frank Vogel is the real Fall Guy

Frank Vogel is not the reason the Suns came up short this year. The Suns not having a true point guard is a big reason why they were awful all season. Saying that, it was clear Vogel was not the right guy for the job. Never understood the hiring from day 1.

Frank Vogel is GONE! The City of Phoenix, AZ should be celebrating! Throw a parade already whether you win a championship or not. This man was a bonafide scrub! He can't coach! No disrespect whatsoever, but I'm sorry to tell everybody the truth, the man cannot coach the game of… https://t.co/GY7cAl98yI

Frank Vogel gotta stop going to these superstar hungry teams that put that over roster quality. He’s taken the fall twice now. The hell was he gonna do with Grayson Allen and Eric Gordon being the main role players?

Frank Vogel definitely wasn’t the Suns biggest problem ha. Firing him won’t get them a bench or an actual point guard.

Frank Vogel: "please get me a PG"
Phoenix GM: "I'm not going to, so quit asking"

Now the Suns will look for the third head coach in three years following the dismissal of Vogel. Former coach Monty Williams was fired at the end of the 2022-23 season and became the HC for the Detroit Pistons soon after.
