GLENDALE – Despite not taking part in mandatory minicamp, Jacoby Brissett’s presence was felt by his Arizona Cardinals teammates. The three-month stalemate between the 33-year-old and Arizona seemingly ended on Monday, when he returned to the practice facility. However, the 10-year pro is still waiting on a new deal and won’t be taking part in drills until a new deal is struck. While much hasn’t really changed, Brissett’s return meant a lot for tight end Trey McBride.

McBride on Brissett’s impact in return:
The two-time Pro Bowler wants his quarterback back on the field, as Brissett helped him to a career-altering year in 2025. Last season, McBride led all tight ends in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns, falling just one vote shy of being unanimously first-team All-Pro. The 26-year-old is likely the best tight end in the NFL and plenty of the credit can be given to Brissett’s insertion under center.

In the first five weeks with Kyler Murray, McBride averaged 5.8 catches for 55 yards and only had one touchdown. After the quarterback change, the production went off the charts with 8.1 catches and 80.3 yards per game and 10 touchdowns. Despite not winning games, the job Brissett has done in developing the young talent has been imperative to the team’s future.

McBride isn’t the only one to benefit from a new QB, as wide receiver Michael Wilson secured his first career 1000-yard season. The All-Pro tight end is likely telling the truth about himself and teammates feeling the presence of Brissett’s return because of how he’s amplified the offense in his starts. The Cardinals could try replacing Brissett, but that would likely lose the trust of many star players, who can’t wait for a new deal to be done for their quarterback.
