GLENDALE – For most NFL teams, rookie quarterbacks and rookie skill players working together during OTAs is a footnote. For the Arizona Cardinals, the growing connection between Carson Beck and first-round pick Jeremiyah Love could become one of the most important developments of the offseason.

On the surface, OTAs are simply a learning environment. But why it matters so much is that not only did the Cardinals invest premium draft capital in Love, but they later selected Beck in the third round, a move that immediately sparked debate among fans about Arizona’s future at quarterback. While veteran Jacoby Brissett brings experience and stability, fans already know his ceiling. Beck represents something different with possibility.

That is why every rep between Beck and Love carries significance. Quarterbacks often develop fastest when they establish timing and trust with a featured weapon early. The NFL is filled with examples of young quarterback-receiver pairings accelerating each other’s development. The Cardinals may be witnessing the first stages of that process. What stands out is not simply that Beck and Love are practicing together. It is how comfortable they reportedly appear during those opportunities. Building chemistry this early can shorten the developmental curve once training camp arrives and can influence coaching decisions when preseason evaluations begin.

From a strategic standpoint, Arizona must determine whether 2026 is about short-term competitiveness or long-term growth. Brissett offers a known floor, but Beck offers a potentially higher ceiling. If Beck continues showing command of the offense while developing a reliable connection with Love, the pressure to give the rookie meaningful opportunities will only increase. For Cardinals fans, that’s the bigger story. It’s about seeing the foundation of a future offense take shape. If Beck and Love continue building momentum together, Arizona may have more than a promising rookie connection. They may have the beginnings of their next franchise era.
