GLENDALE – After months of drama, the Arizona Cardinals and quarterback Jacoby Brissett looked to get past their contract disputes in time for mandatory minicamp. The peace didn’t last long. Tuesday saw the players and coaches get back on the field, with the 33-year-old initially taking part in the stretches. However, once the individual groups were separated, Brissett quickly went to the sideline and watched the quarterback group. He didn’t take part in their drills and chatted up coaches, which sends a clear message that he will not play unless a new deal is struck.

The 10-year pro is currently only slated to make $1.5 million in guaranteed money. The number becomes worse when compared to quarterback Gardner Minshew, who just signed with the team this offseason and has $5.75 million in guarantees. Brissett feels like he’s entitled for much more than Minshew’s number, seeing he was put in a tough position in 2025 and excelled. Despite only winning one game, he set career marks in passing yards and touchdowns.

The Cardinals truly don’t have to give into Brissett’s demands. Arizona has three QBs on the roster in Minshew, Carson Beck and Kedon Slovis. Ditching Brissett would be going back on its words, as a reported indicated that the franchise promised him the starting role back in March. The team currently has the financials to give him a significant raise, but the lack of winning truly dampers his case.
