GLENDALE – The signature was expected, but the opportunity that follows is what truly matters. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Beck officially signed his four-year rookie contract Wednesday, ending weeks of anticipation and ensuring the team’s rookie QB is ready for training camp.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth $7.4 million. For most rookies, signing a contract is a procedural milestone. For Beck, it marks the beginning of the most important evaluation period of his football career. The Cardinals selected the former Miami Hurricanes quarterback with the 65th overall pick because they believe his physical tools and experience give him developmental upside. Now, with contract negotiations behind him, every practice, meeting and preseason snap becomes part of determining whether Arizona has found a quarterback capable of leading the franchise in the years ahead.

For Beck, availability is now his greatest advantage. The Cardinals enter camp with competition and uncertainty at quarterback, creating an environment where every quality rep carries value. Reports coming out of Brissett being seemingly close to a pay raise don’t guarantee what the future holds at the QB position. Young quarterbacks rarely control when their opportunity arrives, but they can control how prepared they are when it does.

For Cardinals fans, Beck’s contract doesn’t answer any long-term questions. Instead, it officially starts the process of finding those answers.
