Can Suns’ Grayson Allen have a bounce back year? Player Preview for the 2025-2026 season

PHOENIX – Second-year Phoenix Suns guard Grayson Allen had a rough 2024-2025 campaign. Allen was thrown into a bench role, after being an everyday starting in his first season with the team. The 29-year-old dealt with injuries to his right ankle, left foot and even entered concussion protocol. Being in and out of the lineup hurt Allen’s production, scoring three less points and shooting 4% worse from the 3-point line compared to his first season.

Despite being in trade rumors throughout the offseason, Allen can be a crucial part to this Suns rotation. He led the league in 3-point shooting two years ago on nearly six attempts per game. Other shooting guards like Devin Booker and Jalen Green aren’t snipers from beyond the arc, which makes Allen’s skill a valuable piece to surround them with on the court.

Phoenix does have a surplus of shooting guards on the roster, but Allen’s three-point shooting is too good to bench. The projected 2%  increase in his 3-point shot would drag him from 13th to 3rd in the league last year. If he stays healthy, the stellar individual offensive players, like Booker and Green, should create enough space for him to operate on the 3-point-line.

Allen has played with great downhill players like Booker, Ja Morant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and more. Playing off ball to All-Stars is almost second nature for him. That skill has allowed him to shoot above 39% from beyond the arc in every season except his rookie year.

If the season turns south for Phoenix, Allen could be shopped at the trade deadline to a contender. However, if the Suns can stay in the Play-In hunt for long enough, Allen will be a massive piece of the rotation for those big moments in April and May.
