GLENDALE — Carson Beck’s opportunity to become the Arizona Cardinals’ starting quarterback could come as soon as next month, but the team appears prepared to take a more patient approach with the rookie.
The Cardinals are not expected to switch to Carson Beck until late November, per @DanGrazianoESPN
“I absolutely expect the Cardinals to take a look at Beck at some point this season, though I’ve been told it might not happen until late November, when their schedule eases up a bit. Arizona’s next six games are @ LAR, home against DEN, @ DAL, @ SEA, home to the Rams and @ KC– a bit of a gauntlet for a rookie QB.
Of course, it’s possible we will see Beck sooner, especially if Brissett gets traded at the deadline, but I don’t get the sense the Cardinals are planning to rush this.”

According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the Cardinals aren’t expected to turn to Beck until late November as they navigate a challenging stretch of their schedule. Graziano reported that Arizona intends to evaluate Beck at some point this season but isn’t planning to rush him into the starting lineup.
The Cardinals’ upcoming six-game stretch includes road games against the Los Angeles Rams, Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs, along with home matchups against the Denver Broncos and Rams. The difficult slate could make it challenging for Beck to find his footing, giving Arizona another reason to prioritize his development rather than put him in a difficult situation too early.

However, with the trade deadline looming and starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett a potential trade candidate, Beck could see playing time sooner than expected.
Beck, a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft out of Miami, offered a glimpse of his potential during his preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers on Aug. 6. He completed 15 of 19 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception.

Although the performance was encouraging, Beck has yet to take a regular-season snap. He sits behind Brissett and Gardner Minshew in the quarterback pool, but a change could come if Arizona’s plans shift or Brissett is moved before the trade deadline.
The organization needs to determine whether the rookie can become a viable long-term option at quarterback, and giving him an opportunity later in the season could help answer that question.

A late-November debut would not guarantee Beck the starting job, but it could give Arizona a chance to evaluate him when the schedule becomes more manageable. The rookie’s eventual performance could play an important role in shaping the team’s plans at quarterback heading into 2027.
