Following his club’s loss to the Chicago White Sox, manager Torey Lovullo announced that Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly will be making their 2024 spring training debut later this week.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Gallen, who finished 3rd in Cy Young voting last season, is scheduled to pitch against the Texas Rangers on Thursday, a matchup that seems fitting considering Gallen’s last start came in Game 5 of the World Series, which ultimately marked the end of their season. Gallen tossed 6.1 innings, allowing 1 earned run in this start.
Then, on Friday, Merrill Kelly is scheduled to start against the Chicago Cubs. Kelly wrapped up last season with a career-best 3.29 ERA and struck out 187 batters in 177.2 innings.
The Diamondbacks currently hold a 5-6 record this spring and are in the midst of a three-game losing streak.
The first pitch for both Gallen’s and Kelly’s debut will be at 1:10 PM.
