Gallen, now entering his sixth season in the league, wrapped up 2023 with an impressive 17-9 record and a 3.47 ERA. His performance earned him a notable third-place finish in NL Cy Young voting, a jump from his fifth-place finish the previous year.

In the National League, Gallen ranked second in wins, third in strikeouts, and second in innings pitched.

Demonstrating dominance at home, Gallen boasted a remarkable 12-3 record and a 2.47 ERA at Chase Field.

The Diamondbacks secured Gallen’s services for the upcoming season by signing him to a one-year, $10.011 million contract, thereby avoiding arbitration. Looking ahead, the D-backs’ starting rotation appears to be one of the best in the National League, featuring arms such as Eduardo Rodriguez, Brandon Pfaadt, Merrill Kelly, and Zac Gallen.

Unless the Diamondbacks negotiate an extension, Gallen will become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
