GLENDALE — Arizona Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat continues to draw interest from other teams ahead of the NFL trade deadline as the club navigates a turbulent season.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers are among the teams linked to Sweat. PHNX’s Johnny Venerable reports that Arizona is seeking a high Day 2 draft pick for the veteran defender.

Sweat’s future is worth watching, particularly after reports that he requested a trade following coach Jonathan Gannon’s firing. He is under contract through 2028, giving the Cardinals control over his future while potentially increasing his trade value.

In 2025, the veteran recorded 12 sacks and 29 combined tackles in 17 games. Through seven games in 2026, Sweat has recorded two sacks and 15 combined tackles. Although his production has dipped, his track record as a pass rusher could make him an attractive addition for a contender and help Arizona command a significant return.

Trading Sweat, however, would leave the Cardinals without one of their most productive pass rushers and create another hole for the defense to address. Replacing his production would be difficult, especially if Arizona struggles to generate consistent pressure without him.

The decision represents a balancing act between immediate defensive production and the team’s long-term future. A high Day 2 pick could provide a valuable building block, but it would not guarantee a replacement capable of matching Sweat’s impact.

Ultimately, the question is whether Arizona views Sweat as part of its long-term plans or believes the draft capital from a potential trade would better serve the team’s future.
