After going down with what appeared to be a bad ankle injury Saturday night against the Houston Rockets, there has been a report on how long Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker could be out.

As the Suns face a challenging series of games ahead, Booker’s absence could be a game-changer.

“The Suns and Devin Booker are bracing for him to miss about seven to ten days with a right ankle sprain,” The Athletic’s Shams Charania said. “They’re going to spend at least the next week or so, potentially more, without him in the lineup.”

If this is the correct timeline for Booker, the Suns (35-26) will be without him a gauntlet of games. Here’s their schedule over the next week:

  • March 5 @ Denver Nuggets (42-19)
  • March 7 vs. Toronto Raptors (23-38)
  • March 9 vs. Boston Celtics (49-12)
  • March 11 @ Cleveland Cavaliers (39-21)

Additionally, if Booker reaches the 10-day mark, he could miss the Suns’ March 14 matchup in Boston against the Celtics.

Phoenix, who has the toughest remaining schedule in the NBA, has now gone 4-7 without Booker this season.

After losing two straight, the Suns have moved from the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference to the No. 7 seed (from a playoff team to a play-in team).

If Booker wants to qualify for an All-NBA team, he can only miss five more games to meet the NBA’s 65-game threshold. Booker has missed 11 total, but his ejection on Feb. 14 against the Detroit Pistons only allowed him to play five minutes then, so that game does not count towards his season total.

Booker is sixth in the NBA at 27.5 points per game this season and averaging 6.8 assists, good for 11th in the league.

Yesterday, coach Frank Vogel said the team would release an update on his status Tuesday, so stay tuned for an official update.
