With a sense of 2017 vengeance in the air, the Arizona Diamondbacks wasted no time in seizing a commanding 6-0 lead against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLDS.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Oh, and five of these runs came before the three-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw even recorded an out.
The onslaught commenced as Ketel Marte launched a laser-like line drive into centerfield for an opening double.
This began a string of five straight hits for the Diamondbacks.
This relentless streak included a pair of base hits from Corbin Carroll and Tommy Pham, a double courtesy of Christian Walker, and the coup de grâce – a towering three-run home run by Gabriel Moreno that rendered Dodgers Stadium eerily silent.

But, even after this bomb, the Diamondbacks offense continued to roll along.
Following Alek Thomas drawing a walk, Evan Longoria delivered the sixth hit of the inning with a double that found the gap.
This intensified the Diamondbacks’ lead to 6-0 and left Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts with no choice but to remove Clayton Kershaw from the mound, ending his night after just one out in the 1st inning.
It is worth noting that during the regular season, Kershaw had faced the Diamondbacks twice. In these two appearances, he allowed a mere two earned runs over 11 innings, which translated into a couple of wins for the Dodgers.
