Becoming the 17th recipient of the Dan Majerle Hustle Award, Majerle himself handed it to Allen prior to the Suns game vs. the Los Angeles Clippers.

On March 9, 2003, Majerle was inducted into the Suns’ Ring of Honor. During the ceremony back then, former Suns owner Jerry Colangelo introduced the Majerle Hustle Award.

“When you think of Dan Majerle, you think of a guy who gave maximum effort in every game, every practice, in everything he did.  It is this work ethic that inspired the creation of the award,” Colangelo said according to Majerle’s bio on the “Majerle’s Sports Grill” website.

In his fifth season in the NBA, the 21st overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft began his career with the Utah Jazz. Allen also played for the Memphis Grizzlies (2019-21) and Milwaukee Bucks (2021-23).

This year, Allen has started all 71 games he has played in and has set career highs in multiple categories. He has averaged 13.5 points 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

Last season, Josh Okogie won the award and Mikal Bridges did so in the two seasons (2021, 2022). Bo Outlaw was the original player to receive such an accolade and former Suns forward P.J. Tucker won it four times in a row (2013-16), the most ever.

Grayson Allen and the Suns will head on the road after the Clippers game tonight.
