“I’m so impressed with Ant,” said Durant, who had 33 points on 12-of-17 shooting and nine rebounds in the loss. “My favorite player to watch, just grown so much since he came into the league at 22 (years old now). Just his love for the game shines bright, and that’s one of the reasons why I like him the most because he just loves basketball. He’s grateful to be in this position, he’s taken advantage of every opportunity he’s gotten. Love everything about Ant, everything.

“(I’ll) be watching him going forward. You know he’s gonna go out there and play extremely hard every single night, but I was really impressed with him. (He’s) gonna be somebody I’m following for the rest of his career.”

Edwards conquered his biggest idol in Durant in dominant fashion, dropping 40 points (31 in the second half), nine rebounds and six assists in the Game 4 victory. He averaged 31.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.0 steals for the Wolves over the four games.

“It felt great. I got the utmost respect for KD,” Edwards said to NBA on TNT’s Inside the NBA crew postgame. “He comes in and competes every night. I’ve watched every last one of his games, since I’ve been about five (years old). I love that guy, man, and I’m excited to play with him this summer, talk a little trash and let him know I sent him home”

Edwards was the best and most consistent player on the floor the entire series. He backed up his smiling at Durant from Game 1 throughout the first round, making a very good case that he is a better shooting guard than Devin Booker at the current moment.

“I think everybody here knows that’s my favorite player of all time,” Edwards said of Durant after the exchange in Game 1. “That was probably one of the best feelings ever in my whole life.”

Edwards had something to say to the Suns leaving the floor after Game 4 as the Timberwolves advance to the second round most likely to play the defending-champion Denver Nuggets, who are up 3-1 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Suns will head home, but Edwards is certainly having his moment right now as he looks to establish himself among the best in the NBA.

Durant, Edwards and Booker will be on Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer.
