ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith made a shocking claim about Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker on First Take today following the Suns being swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves last night.

“Devin Booker wants to be in New York, that’s what I’m being told,” Smith said. “(Booker) might deny it, I haven’t spoken to him. I’m just telling you the scuttlebutt in the NBA circles is that brother wanna be in New York.”

Keep in mind that Smith is a huge New York Knicks fan.

Booker had a playoff career-high 49 points in Phoenix’s 122-116 Game 4 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves last night. Booker and his co-stars Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal are due to make over $150 million combined over the next couple seasons.

“You’ve got at least two people, probably three, who are all getting paid about $150 million combined (and) don’t want to be there,” Smith said.

The Knicks are currently up 3-1 in their first-round series over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Booker, who has spent his entire nine-year career in Phoenix and made it to the 2021 NBA Finals, did not sound like he had any plans of going anywhere during his postgame press conference last night.

“I want to win (the NBA Finals),” Booker said. “I don’t (just) want to get back. And it’s a tough league. At the end of all this, there’s going to be one winner, and everybody that doesn’t win is gonna go into somewhat of a panic mode and feel like they have to make changes and do this and do that.

“But I think, over time experience is the best teacher. The more that you can spend time together and feel this hurt together and go through it together, the better off you are in the future.”
