During the regular season, the Arizona Diamondbacks ranked 22nd in the MLB with 166 home runs, which roughly averaged out to one per game.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! For Arizona, the long ball wasn’t the linchpin of their success.
After all, when as a team you collectively steal 166 bases (2nd), record 44 triples (1st), and strike out only 1247 times (4th fewest), speed is enough to get you a playoff spot.
However, as seen throughout the past five years or so, the postseason is a whole different story, and the Diamondbacks have adjusted perfectly.
They’ve transitioned from a team that relied on putting balls in play to emerging as the leaders in October this year with nine home runs through four games.
Extending over to their 2017 playoff run, the Diamondbacks have homered in 12 consecutive games, which is the second longest streak in MLB postseason history, per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

A significant part of this home run barrage can be attributed to the likes of Alek Thomas, Corbin Carroll, and Gabriel Moreno, each contributing two home runs apiece.
If the Diamondbacks are able to keep this homer pace up, there is no limit to how far they can take this postseason run.
