GLENDALE – The Arizona Cardinals have tried their best to navigate through the heavy noises of their current quarterback situation, and it hasn’t been going well. Many reports from trusted sources indicated that usual starter Kyler Murray would only be out a couple weeks with a foot injury suffered vs. the Tennessee Titans. However, that small recovery time has ballooned into Murray being placed on injury reserve, with many people asking questions of how the franchise will move forward with their two-time Pro Bowl quarterback.

General manager Monti Ossenfort spoke with Arizona Sports and continued to be ominous on how the team view the quarterback battle, with him waiting till Murray is healthy to decide.

Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort speaks about Walter Nolen with head coach Jonathan Gannon during a news conference inside the Arizona Cardinals training facility on April 24, 2025, in Tempe.
Ossenfort on how he views Cardinals QB situation:
“When we put a guy on IR, that’s four weeks away. A lot of things can happen between now and then. I think Jacoby has done a great job of leading our offense. We’re expecting more of the same moving forward. But Jacoby’s put himself in a good spot for where we’re going offensively. When Kyler gets healthy, we’ll assess when we get to that point.”

Murray being placed on IR bought the franchise four weeks of breathing room from questions about who will be the starting quarterback when both players are healthy. However, Ossenfort and the team seem to be delaying the inevitable and don’t want to make a decision. Arizona is paying the 28-year-old over $36 million in guaranteed money next year, so it’s no surprise that it wants to keep Murray’s trade value high, while keeping him happy.
Cardinals leadership like Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon has kept their perspective on Brissett and Murray short, but in the next four weeks the duo will be faced with some tough decisions ahead.
