Arizona looked focused as they competed against this talented Toronto ball club, and will need to continue to do so. The Blue Jays have shown that their talent can win them games at any moment. With the Diamondbacks moving back to .500 on the season with yesterday’s loss, the Snakes need to start stacking wins to keep themselves in contention.

Wednesday’s mound matchups:
Arizona will be looking for Eduardo Rodriguez to keep his control on Wednesday. E-Rod has had a shaky season filled with some injuries, though has recently done a decent job of keeping the Snakes alive in games. In his last two starts, he pitched 5.0 and 6.1 innings and was hit around, though was able to keep his command and only allow two earned runs in both matchups against the Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners.

Eric Lauer, who has bounced back and forth between the bullpen and starting rotation, will be on the mound for Toronto on Wednesday. With an injury to Bowden Francis, Lauer gets his opportunity to get more reps as a starter. So far on the season, Lauer has a 2-1 record with a 2.37 ERA.

Arizona will look to avoid a series loss and avenge last night’s ninth-inning collapse. If the Snakes can get their bats going at the plate early and drive the pitch count up, they should have ample opportunities to come away on Wednesday with a win. First pitch at the Rogers Centre tonight will be at 4:07 p.m. PT.
