Jones on Suns approach this offseason:
Jones phrasing any future moves that Phoenix does this offseason as “for the best interest of the team” highlights that Durant is likely gone. The former MVP is still one of the premier offensive players in the association and has plenty of years left to warrant a team to send a massive haul for Durant.
The Suns will look to recoup the assets lost in the Durant trade two years ago, leaving the franchise with limited draft capital and cap space. Jones’ perspective of putting the team first signals that he’ll use the franchise’s lone valuable, tradable assets in Durant to solve the many problems surrounding Phoenix.

Owner Mat Ishbia mentioned he doesn’t want to go through a rebuild but did share Jones’ sentiment that change will happen this offseason. One can assume that one of the changes will be a trade involving Durant, especially after Jones and Ishbia’s press conference on Thursday.
