As NBA trade rumors are beginning to heat up the Phoenix Suns have been linked to Miami star Jimmy Butler. Several reports have said that Butler has informed Miami that he would like to be traded before the February 6th trade deadline. But there is another super star out there the Suns should go after.
LeBron James.
The chances of a trade for the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer are slim to none. Los Angeles would probably never trade him and even if they would, Phoenix likely doesn’t have enough assess to make it happen. But what if.
Rumors around the league are whispering that LeBron has let it be known internally that he wouldn’t mind being traded to the Warriors to team up with Steph Curry in the final chapter of his career. The idea of two of the greatest players in the history of the NBA playing one final season together. But what if he teamed up with another all-time great in Kevin Durant? Phoenix could trade Bradley Beal for LeBron and the contracts would work. Suns would likely have to add in a bunch of draft compensation but lets say they could make that work. Phoenix would then be able to have a starting lineup with Durant, Booker and LeBron.
James is a natural point forward and would be able to run the offense. KD and Devin Booker would be able to play off him seamlessly. We’ve seen it before in the Olympics. The fit certainly works better than it does with Beal. And perhaps most importantly, the trade would get the Suns out from under Beal’s contract which is worth $50M this season and nearly $160M over the next three years.
