Cardinals’ Marvin Harrison Jr. enters concussion protocol after hit against Packers

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (18) heads to the locker room after sustaining a head injury on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Packers won the game, 34-13

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon announced on Monday that rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has entered concussion protocol. Harrison left Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers early after taking a thigh to the head. He was taken to the medical tent and did not return to the field.

Before exiting, Harrison had been targeted twice but was held without a catch.

In order to be cleared from concussion protocol, Harrison will need to be evaluated and cleared by both a team physician and an Independent Neurological Consultant approved by the NFL.

The Cardinals have an extra day to monitor Harrison’s recovery, as they won’t play again until next Monday when they face the Los Angeles Chargers. Gannon acknowledged this scheduling benefit, saying, “The good news is we’ve got an extra day to heal up. We’ll have some time to see who’s ready and who’s not, but everything’s looking pretty good so far.”

Harrison, the 4th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had a standout performance in Week 2 with 130 yards and two touchdowns. However, since that breakout game, the Cardinals have struggled to consistently integrate him into the offense. Harrison has not recorded more than five receptions in any game since Week 2.

Stay tuned for further updates.
