The Arizona Cardinals announced Monday that veteran wide receiver Zay Jones has been activated to the team’s 53-man roster.

Jones missed the first five weeks of the season after being suspended for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. He was then held out an extra week with a hamstring injury after returning to practice. The Cardinals (2-4) fell to the Green Bay Packers 34-13 in Week 6 and lost top wide receiver Marvin Harrison  Jr. to a concussion.

“It’s going to be good (to have Jones back),” coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Monday. “He’s a good player. He can play three spots, he’s a playmaker. He’s a consistent vet in what he’s shown. We’re excited to get him back.”

The 29-year-old will likely immediately fill as the team’s top reserve receiver behind Harrison, Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch. Arizona had an open roster spot after releasing wide receiver Chris Moore last week. Moore was later re-signed to the practice squad.

The Cardinals signed Jones to a one-year deal back in May. Jones has played 104 games (67 starts) across seven NFL seasons, recording 287 receptions for 3,028 yards and 18 touchdowns. Last year, he played in nine games (seven starts) with the Jacksonville Jaguars and caught 34 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns.

Jones will have an extra day to ramp up, as the Cardinals play on Monday Night Football in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
