PHOENIX – If the Phoenix Suns’ projected home opener matchup becomes reality, the NBA schedule would hand Phoenix a compelling opening-night storyline. Arizona sports radio host John Gambadoro reported that the Phoenix Suns’ home opener for the 2026-27 season is expected to be Saturday, Oct. 24, with a division rival likely coming to Footprint Center. Gambadoro also mentioned he would not be surprised if that opponent were the Golden State Warriors.

Stephen Curry vs. Devin Booker would be the obvious headline. Two of the league’s most recognizable guards would give the Suns an immediate national spotlight while creating the kind of individual matchup that can define a season’s opening chapter.

But Phoenix fans could have another player in mind with Miles Bridges. Bridges enters the season carrying expectations that go beyond his box-score production. The question will not simply be whether he can score, rebound or defend. It will be whether Suns fans believe he fits what this version of the franchise is trying to become.

A strong performance against Golden State could accelerate fan buy-in. A rough night could intensify questions that already exist before the season begins. Home openers are often treated as ceremonial events, but for teams undergoing significant change, they can establish an emotional baseline.
