To make way for Eduardo Rodriguez’s first career start in a Diamondbacks uniform on Tuesday against the Guardians, the Diamondbacks made several roster moves.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!First, they officially placed Gabriel Moreno on the 10-day IL after he suffered a groin injury on Monday. Filling Moreno’s spot will be Adrian Del Castillo, the Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for May and the Diamondbacks’ No. 28 overall prospect. Del Castillo, who will be making his major league debut, leads the Pacific Coast League in hits, runs, doubles, SLG, and OPS.
Additionally, Bryce Jarvis was transferred to the 60-day IL. Jarvis, a former first-round pick of the Diamondbacks, sprained his right elbow a few days ago. This season, he has pitched 59.1 innings with Arizona, allowing 21 earned runs and posting a 3.19 ERA.
Furthermore, Humberto Castellanos was optioned to Triple-A Reno. Castellanos has been shuttling between the Aces and Diamondbacks all season. In the majors this year, he has allowed six earned runs across 10.1 innings, five of which came during one poor outing in June.

The Diamondbacks, having won 10 of their last 12 games, are seeking to secure their 7th straight series victory on Tuesday. The good news for Arizona is that he has fared exceptionally well against the Guardians, posting a 6-0 record and a 2.28 ERA across eight starts. Last season, in particular, Rodriguez was dominant against Cleveland. He first pitched an eight-inning shutout, striking out 10 batters on April 16th, 2023. Then, a few weeks later, he tossed a seven-inning shutout, striking out eight batters. In August, Rodriguez allowed one earned run in 6.2 innings, and on October 1st, he pitched seven innings while allowing one earned run. Altogether, Rodriguez allowed just two earned runs across 28.2 innings against the Guardians in 2023.
Stay tuned for further updates.
