Trying to put on an electric show and create a ruckus atmosphere for the 2024 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game, the Phoenix Mercury has announced that team owner Mat Ishbia will have GRAMMY Award-winning rapper Pitbull perform at halftime on Saturday.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Armando Christian Perez, aka “Pitbull,” has made a name for himself around the world for his music which has earned plenty of accolades and awards. Songs like “Give Me Everything” (featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer) and “Timber” (featuring Kesha) have seen him be No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Even though he has been performing since the early 2000s, Pitbull is excited for the opportunity to be on this kind of stage in Phoenix.
“I was raised by a woman, and a woman made me a man,” Pitbull said in a press release. “It’s an honor to make history and perform at the WNBA All-Star Game. Here’s to all the powerful women of the WNBA. So buckle up and get ready to have a good time, Dale!”
When he was in the process of finding the right performer who would go on stage and put on a show inside Footprint Center, Ishbia believed Pitbull was the person who matched the criteria that he was looking for.
“We have an opportunity to use AT&T WNBA All-Star to showcase an incredible league and some of the greatest athletes in the world,” Ishbia said in the press release. “It’s important everything we do, on and off the floor, is at the same level as the superstars who will be playing. Pitbull is one of the world’s most dynamic artists and I wanted a halftime performer who reflects the same excitement, passion and incredible fandom of the WNBA.”
Soon, Pitbull will travel to 25 cities for his Party After Dark Tour beginning in August. Along this journey, there will be special guests like T-Pain and Lil Jon. The tour will last until October in various states, with him performing at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix on Oct. 4.
The AT&T WNBA All-Star Game officially begins on July 20 at 5:30 p.m. PT. inside Footprint Center. To watch, ABC will broadcast the annual event.
