Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! On May 25, Ogunbowale scored 40 points for Dallas as she guided them to a 107-92 victory. Then on June 9, the Wings forced both overtime and double OT before Copper went off with eight points late, guiding the Mercury to a 97-90 win. In their most recent matchup last Wednesday, the Mercury were running away with the game up by 18 before Dallas clawed back to within as close as three in a 104-96 victory for Phoenix.
Before they prepare for the regular season finale between the two teams, however, Jaelyn Brown (Illness), Satou Sabally (Shoulder) and Maddy Siegrist (Finger) are all inactive.
Out for her 10th straight game, Siegrist sustained a finger injury just as she was making a strong case for the WNBA’s Most Improved Player Award. Before her injury, she averaged 14.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while scoring at an elite rate compared to last season when she had 3.9 points per game.
The reigning Most Improved Player in Sabally has missed more than the first half of the season as she is still battling a shoulder injury. She has played 82 games (72 starts), averaged 15.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists in her four seasons (2020-23) in the WNBA.
Since making her league debut in Dallas’ season opener vs. the Chicago Sky on May 15, Brown has been sidelined with an illness. After playing four seasons overseas, the California native signed a training camp deal with the Wings before making the roster off of a 21-point performance in the preseason vs. the Indiana Fever on May 3.
The clash between the Mercury and Wings begins at 12:30 p.m. PT inside Footprint Center.
