Back then, the Blazers beat them 3-0 in a best-of-5 first-round series. They haven’t been swept 4-0 since 1989 when the Lakers did so in the Western Conference Finals.
Game 4 was the best game of the series, but the Suns lost 122-116, as Anthony Edwards went off for 40 points for Minnesota. Devin Booker had a playoff career-high 49 points in the loss.
Bradley Beal really struggled, facing foul trouble all game before fouling out with just under two minutes to go. Beal only had nine points on 4-of-13 shooting in 31 minutes.
The Sunss= are projected to have the highest tax bill in the NBA next season after signing Grayson Allen to a four-year, $70-million extension a couple weeks ago. Mat Ishbia has proven time and time again he is willing to spend whatever amount for betterment of the team in hopes of them being a title contender.
Phoenix has virtually no assets, having traded or swapped all of their first-round picks until 2030. They only own one second-round pick in this timeframe: a 2028 pick from the Boston Celtics (protected 31-45).
What does it mean to be a title contender and get swept in the first round and additionally have nothing to work with in the future?
