Purdy’s Dominant Season

In just his second season in the league, the Arizona Native has put up incredible numbers and led the San Francisco 49ers to clinch the top seed in the NFC.

Through 16 games, Purdy has thrown for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions on a completion percentage of 69.4. He is ranked second in yards, touchdowns, and competition percentage among all eligible quarterbacks.

Regardless of the elite coaching and playmaking around him, it is undeniable that Purdy has played at a pro-bowl level this season and put up the numbers to back it up.

Career At Perry

Purdy played on Perry’s varsity team from 2015-2017. Over his last two seasons with the Pumas, he combined for 9,631 yards and 115 total touchdowns. This is looked at as one of the most dominant stretches ever for a high school football quarterback.

He led the team to the state championship during his senior year but fell just short 42-49 against the Chandler Wolves.

Despite his high school dominance, Purdy was just a three-star recruit and decided that Iowa State was the best option for him. He started all four seasons for the Cyclones and finished with a 30-17 record. He became the first quarterback to take Iowa State to four straight bowl games.

49ers Control Fan Vote

Purdy was one of many Niners players to receive an overwhelming amount of fan votes, finishing with 451,864.

19 players on the team finished top three at their position as the voting concluded. This includes running back and MVP candidate Christian McCaffrey, who finished second in voting with 429,993 behind only Purdy.

It is safe to say that the Arizona community and Niners fans did their part in making sure Mr. Irrelevant made the Pro Bowl.

While there are still player and coach votes that need to be accounted for, Purdy will undoubtedly get a spot on the Pro Bowl Roster. Whether he participates or not is up to him and the team’s success and whether they secure a spot at Super Bowl LVII.
