This Former Sun Devil Leads The NFL In an Impressive Stat

Brandon Aiyuk is in the midst of a breakout season for San Francisco. He has fully taken over the #1 WR spot and will probably make his first Pro Bowl this year. Aiyuk is ranked 6th in receiving yards with 1,317 and has helped put Brock Purdy in the MVP race. The Niners are currently the top seed, and Aiyuk’s season is a huge part of it.

However, that’s not the only story. The Former Sun Devil has a lot of yards, but he has very few receptions. Aiyuk only has 72 receptions. Of all the players with 1000 yards, only four have fewer receptions than Aiyuk. This puts him as a leader in a fantastic stat: yards per reception.

Aiyuk only has 72 receptions, which means he is averaging 18.3 Y/R. That puts him .2 yards higher than the number two in Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens. Aiyuk also leads the league with 13 yards per target, so basically, every throw to him is deep, so he’s getting so many long-catch opportunities. This makes sense, though, as the Niners are easily the deepest throwing team in the country, as Brock Purdy leads all quarterbacks by a lot in yards per attempt and yards per catch.

The Niners are rolling, and future Pro-Bowler Brandon Aiyuk is a major reason why. There is a really good chance the Niners could be heading to a Super Bowl.
