Burn City Fantasy Football Flavor of Week 11

© Maria Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports

We are back with the second edition of the Burn City Fantasy Football Flavor of the Week as the NFL has entered its Week 11 of the season.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

On Nov. 6, the first installment of this series went exceptionally well to say the least.

Here is the list of players I talked about and how they fared in Week 10.

Trade For: Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery vs. L.A. Chargers on Nov. 12 — 12 carries, 168 yards, 1 TD = 17.6 Fantasy Points

Waiver Wire Pickup: Houston Texans wide receiver Noah Brown vs. Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 12 — 7 receptions, 172 yards = 17.2 Fantasy Points

Cut: Arizona Cardinals quarterback Clayton Tune vs. Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 12 — 1 yard rushed, 1 TD = 6.1 Fantasy Points

Now, it is getting more difficult to make trades as the season goes on when most fantasy owners have their teams set and stone, barring injury.

However, Fantasy Football Playoffs are just around the corner and certain players that are out due to injuries, illnesses or other matters or just haven’t produced enough points this season like others could be up for sale at a discount.

Additionally, there are still a few good streaming options for this week in terms of low-rostered players that can make an impact and are still available on your league’s waiver wire as free agents.

Also, there is someone that I have circled that is rostered that has been performing way-below fantasy expectations.

Here are three players to either trade for, pick up as a free agent, or cut for Week 11:

Trade For: WR Nico Collins, Houston Texans

Last week, Brown was a huge success story against the Bengals as he skyrocketed from 2% owned in Yahoo and 1% in ESPN prior to Week 10 to 25% on Yahoo and 24% on ESPN, as of yesterday.

Even though Brown didn’t score a touchdown, he still earned 17.2 fantasy points from 172 yards received.

Because of this, I’d like to recommend another Texan for Week 11 with wide receiver Nico Collins.

Due to Brown being in the spotlight currently, people are forgetting about what Collins can do on the field.

Just like Montgomery prior to Week 10, Collins is yet another guy that has dealt with an injury, but could play in the next game.

Against Cincinnati, Collins (calf) was ruled out for the game with an injury.

Like I said with Montgomery, trading for a player who is questionable for their next game can be really risky.

However, that’s what makes a great buy-low candidate.

Before his injury, Collins started in 5 of the 8 games this season for Houston and has amassed 631 yards on 36 receptions and 4 touchdowns.

Furthermore, that stat line would have earned you an average of 10.8 fantasy points.

Owned in 88% of Yahoo and 87% of ESPN leagues, there is most likely someone in your league who has Collins rostered.

What is the most intriguing is that Houston plays the Arizona Cardinals (2-8) on Nov. 19 which is a matchup the Texans should be favored to win.

Plus, the Texans have a favorable fantasy playoff schedule in which Collins can do some damage even if he isn’t going to be healthy enough against the Cardinals.

Texans Schedule during Fantasy Football Playoffs:

  • at Tennesse Titans (3-6), Dec. 17.
  • vs. Cleveland Browns (6-3), Dec. 24.
  • vs. Tennesse Titans (3-6), Dec. 31.

Waiver Wire Pickup: RB Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings

If you have enough space on your roster or can drop someone that isn’t performing up to where you want them to be, then pickup Minnesota Viking running back Ty Chandler before it is not too late.

Due to Minnesota’s running back Alexander Mattison being out with a concussion, Chandler is, on paper, the No. 1 RB for the Vikings going into Week 11.

At 9% rostered on Yahoo and only 3% on ESPN, Chandler could very well be an undercover gem in fantasy right now.

Chandler ran for 45 yards on 15 carries and scored his first-NFL touchdown in the Vikings 27-19 win over the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 12.

While he only recorded 10.5 fantasy points this past Sunday, Chandler has yet to start this season in 1o games.

Currently, 10 or less team leagues should only pick him up at their own risk, but Chandler is a solid candidate for those of you in 12+ team leagues as the running back market for free agents is not that deep.

Overall, Chandler has played in 13 games while rushing for 107 yards on 29 carries.

On Nov. 19, Chandler is in-line to start against the shockingly-hot Denver Broncos (4-5).

There is no word as to how long Mattison’s concussion will keep him on the sidelines, but for the time being, picking up Chandler could net you decent points this week.

Drop: RB Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears

Except for those of you who like his upside in dynasty leagues, it is time to give up on Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson in re-draft leagues.

Especially when he has averaged 4 fantasy points this season, it is a no-brainer.

While Bears No. 1 RB Khalil Herbert was dealing with an ankle injury, Johnson seemed like he was going to get more touches, and therefore, make more of an impact on the gridiron.

Contrary to belief, not only did he fail to meet expectations, but D’Onta Foreman took Johnson’s spot and Johnson is now labeled as the third-string running back now that Herbert was activated to Chicago’s roster.

In his rookie season, Johnson has played in 8 games, rushed for 167 yards on 38 attempts and scored 1 TD.

Fantasy-wise, Johnson is surprisingly rostered in 31% of ESPN leagues and 27% in Yahoo.

Unless you are happy with getting 2-4 fantasy points per week with Johnson, cut your losses and drop him ASAP.
