After a disappointing first start on the mound in a month, Brandon Pfaadt has been sent right back down to Triple-A.
The rookie could not make it out of the 2nd inning against the Rays as he allowed six earned runs, resulting in a 6-1 Diamondbacks’ loss. It was Pfaadt’s first start on the mound since late May.
Additionally, Pavin Smith will join Pfaadt in Reno following a less than ideal start to the season.
Despite fans’ demands for a change, Smith has consistently received playing time throughout the year. In 61 games, Pavin Smith holds a .190 batting average, has more strikeouts than hits, and has recently fallen deeper into a slump as he has gone without a hit in his last 16 at-bats.
In return for these moves, the Diamondbacks brought up Dominic Fletcher and Kyle Lewis.Â
Very little playing time has been given to both young outfielders this year.
First pitch for the Diamondbacks game against the Angels will be tonight at 6:40 PM on AppleTV.
