While Merrill Kelly sits on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury, manager Torey Lovullo has confirmed that Pfaadt will start tomorrow night.

Originally drafted in 2020 by the D-backs, Brandon Pfaadt was brought up in early May to replace Madison Bumgarner.

However, his time was short-lived, as the rookie was sent back down after posting an 8.37 ERA through five starts.

The Diamondbacks’ starting rotation has been a work in progress all season. Despite holding one of the best records in the league, Arizona’s pitchers are near the bottom of the pack when it comes to team ERA.

With three rookies currently in the rotation plus Merrill Kelly on the IL, the Diamondbacks will need some new players to step up at least until the All-Star break.
