Down to their final strike, the Diamondbacks came back to defeat the Detroit Tigers with a final score of 7-5.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! After a two-run home run from Pavin Smith in the 2nd inning, the Diamondbacks offense fell flat, going hitless until the seventh.
Meanwhile, the Tigers, who were shutout the previous day, were all over Zac Gallen. In total, the struggling Tigers offense racked up 10 hits and five runs off the D-backs ace, forcing him out of the game in the 6th inning.
This was the first time that Zac Gallen allowed double-digit hits all year.
However, this was not enough to finish off the Diamondbacks, as they sparked a four-run ninth inning to complete their best comeback of the season.
With two outs and two strikes in the top of the ninth, Christian Walker drove a double down the right field line to bring in Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte. Before the ninth, the Diamondbacks were 0-7 with runners in scoring position.

Geraldo Perdomo then tacked on a much-needed insurance run with a base hit, extending the Diamondbacks lead to two.
In the final two innings, the D-backs racked up six hits, three of which were for extra bases. Of course, it was rookie OF Corbin Carroll leading the offense charge, going a home run shy of the cycle, bringing his season batting average up to .308.
The Tigers did attempt to answer in the bottom of the ninth, starting the inning with a triple, but Scott McGough shut down any comeback. Detroit stranded runners on the corners with one out.
Arizona has now won five in a row and holds a three-game lead over the Dodgers for first place in the NL West.
Next up for the Diamondbacks is a four-game series against the Phillies at Chase Field. This series will begin on Monday at 6:40 PM.
