After completing an impressive 9th inning comeback on Sunday, the Diamondbacks tied a franchise record for most wins through the first 65 games of a season.

The 40-25 record ties their 2002 season. In 2002, the Diamondbacks finished two shy of 100 wins, they would then get swept by the Cardinals in the NLDS.

Arizona also has four different seasons where they recorded 39 wins through the first 65 games. One of which was their 2001 World Series winning season.

Additionally, as of June 11th, the Diamondbacks are 15 games over .500, something that they have not reached since August 23rd, 2018. Unfortunately, in 2018, they went on an 11-28 skid to end the year, forcing them out of the playoffs.

However, this year, there seems to be something special brewing with the snakes.

Led by a young, speedy, yet powerful offense, the Diamondbacks have only gotten better as the season has gone on.

With the 1/3 mark passed, the D-backs have the third best team batting average at .263, are top five in slugging, top five in OPS, top five in runs scored, and have the least number of errors.

As crazy as it sounds, there are just eight series’ left for the Diamondbacks until the All-Star break. And, with how talented the NL West is, it is pivotal for Arizona to continue this strong offensive output.

Looking ahead, the Diamondbacks will see some tough competition before the halfway point. This includes the Mets, Rays, Brewers, Phillies, Pirates, and Guardians.

Of course, there is still plenty of time left in the season, but one thing is for certain: this is no fluke, the Diamondbacks are a legit playoff team.
