PHOENIX – It was a day of rebound and redemption for the D-Backs as they won in ten innings over the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 11-9. This was coming off of an uncharacteristic outing from Brandon Pfaadt on Saturday where he gave up six earned runs on nine hits in only 4.2 innings of work.

Arizona was on the ropes on Sunday, as the Phillies threatened to sweep the Snakes. The Diamondbacks took a commanding lead in the beginning on Sunday’s matchup though, as they went up 7-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth. It was the Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo show early on as they combined for four RBIs in the early part of that run.

The bullpen looked shaky, and shades of Friday night lingered as the game went on. The Phillies made a roaring comeback, highlighted by a Weston Wilson home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. They got within a run, as the D-Backs led 7-6 heading into the ninth inning.

After what eventually was a massive run in the top of the ninth, Randal Grichuk got a double to score Corbin Carroll bringing the D-Backs lead up to 8-6. The Phillies kept their momentum going into the bottom of the ninth and after a Kyle Schwarber homer and an Alec Bohm single to score Brandon Marsh, this game saw extra innings as they tied the contest up 8-8.

The Diamondbacks had no intention of leaving without a win or letting the outing go that much further. After a run that was started by a Josh Naylor single, that also included a Tim Tawa RBI and a walked-in run, Arizona was able to get three runs in which helped them win on Sunday by a score of 11-9.

They are back in Arizona as they gear up to face the New York Mets, a ball club that they just saw on this past road trip, and played decently well against.
