This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Hank Aaron Award. Voting is currently open until Sunday, October 13th at 11:59 ET.

Nominees for the 2024 Hank Aaron Award:

American League

  • Yordan Alvarez
  • Jarren Duran
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
  • Gunnar Henderson
  • Aaron Judge
  • José Ramírez
  • Brent Rooker
  • Anthony Santander
  • Juan Soto
  • Bobby Witt Jr.

National League

  • Elly De La Cruz
  • Freddie Freeman
  • Bryce Harper
  • Francisco Lindor
  • Ketel Marte
  • Jackson Merrill
  • Shohei Ohtani
  • Marcell Ozuna
  • Kyle Schwarber

Last year, Shohei Ohtani (American League) and Ronald Acuña Jr. (National League) took home the honors. Arizona has seen just one player win the award, with Paul Goldschmidt being recognized in 2013 after his stellar season, in which he led the league with 36 home runs, 125 RBIs, and an .852 OPS.

While Shohei Ohtani, widely regarded as the likely National League MVP, is expected to claim this year’s Hank Aaron Award, Ketel Marte has built a strong case of his own. After the All-Star break, Marte was one of the National League’s top offensive forces, putting himself in the MVP conversation. However, a stint on the IL and Ohtani’s incredible two-week surge in September—highlighted by a six-hit, 10-RBI game—ultimately solidified Ohtani’s position as the front-runner.

Despite this, Marte was a linchpin in the Diamondbacks’ offense, propelling the team to score more runs than any other club in the league. Marte set a career-high with 36 home runs, drove in 95 RBIs, and posted an impressive .932 OPS in 2024, all while attending his first All-Star Game since 2019. His efforts have him 4th in current National League MVP odds, mirroring his 4th-place MVP finish in 2019.
